Nature Watching & Snowshoeing
Depending on the season, you will find an enormous variety of birds and wildlife in the Elk Ridge Resort area. Here are just a few of the species you might encounter:

Birds: blackcap and boreal chickadees, grey jays and bluejays, pine, evening and rose-breasted grosbeaks, gulls and ducks of all kinds, kingfishers, Canada geese, hairy, downy and pileated woodpeckers, flickers, bald eagles, hawks, warblers, cedar and bohemian waxwings, sapsuckers, rose-breasted nuthatches, magpies, ravens, finches, juncos, pine siskins Fish: trout, northern pike, walleye, perch Wildlife: rabbits, squirrels, fox, wolves, lynx, deer, moose, and elk.

Snowmobiling* & Cross-Country Skiing

Enjoy your winter adventure of snowmobiling or cross-country skiing, then come home and warm up in front of the fire in the comfort of a cottage or townhouse at Elk Ridge Resort! Our two, three and four bedroom cottages and townhouses are just steps away from the snowmobile and cross-country ski trails, the toboggan hill, skating, curling, hockey rink and the clubhouse restaurant.

You can rent snowmobiles*, cross-country skis or snowshoes right here at Elk Ridge groomed snowmobile and cross-country ski trails at Elk Ridge Resort link into existing trails in and around the area. Trails are clearly marked for distance and, for skiers, ability level. You can view the trail maps and print them off by clicking on these PDF files..

Snowmobile Rentals*

$190.00 for a full day (approx 9am-5pm)
$130.00 for a half day (approx 9am-1pm or 1pm-5pm)
*Sorry, we do not offer Childrens skidoo (Mini Z's) rentals anymore.
*Skidoo rentals are for Elk Ridge Guests ONLY.
Guests are encouraged to pre-book, as sleds are limited.
Each skidoo rental requires a $500.00 pre-authorization to ensure
that if damages occur the cost will be covered. The renter is responsible for all damages.
Gas is extra, 2 helmets are included per sled . All skidoos are 2-ups (two riders).
Snowmobile Suits $20.00 for a full day and $15.00 for half day

Ski/Snowshoe/Skate Rentals**

Cross Country Skiis $20.00 for a full day (approx 9am-5pm)
Snowshoes $15.00 for a full day
Skates $10.00 for a full day
Hockey sticks and pucks are available for a $5.00 deposit

**All ski/snowshoe/skate and stick rentals are on a first come first serve basis, there are limited numbers and sizes of each.

More Things To Do

Elk Ridge Resort offers many other winter activities to fill your winter getaway. We have an on-site pond that has an open-air skating/hockey rink/curling sheet. Also on-site is a breathtaking tubing/ toboggan hill. All are weather pending. A limited number of tubes are provided so we recommend you bring your own.

Off-Site Activities & Events

To complement your visit to Elk Ridge Resort's excellent facilities, you can enjoy a comprehensive selection of activities and amenities in the surrounding area, including: an abundance of wildlife for your viewing pleasure plus cottages, hunting, hotels, motels, movies, police, restaurants, stores, theatres.

Offsite ice-fishing can be enjoyed at McPhee Lake, Montreal Lake, Pear Lake and Anglin Lake. Fishing licenses can be purchased locally.

Sundogs Sled Excursions
Join Sundogs Sled Excursions on the trail for an unforgettable 'mushing' experience on Elk Ridge's doorstep. Sundogs provides dog sled excursions from one hour orientations and half-day outings to overnight trips in the boreal forest. Check the Sundogs website for details and to book your excursion.
